An excerpt from yesterday's message...

As we express our understanding here at Zion, we see our mission as being used by God to both strengthen and extend His Kingdom.

The strengthening part of our mission includes doing things which help us take care of those who are already part of our family in Christ, to increase our love and our fellowship with one another, and to provide opportunities for our faith and our discipleship to grow.  The extending part of our mission starts with seeking the power of the same Holy Spirit Jesus sent and sends to His followers, and then working together to come up with increasingly effective ways to show and share the love of God with those who are unaware of God’s presence and guidance and gifts.  We do well to remember how Mark ends his account of Jesus’ ascension with these words: And they went out and proclaimed the good news everywhere, while the Lord worked with them.  The Lord continues to work with His followers as they seek to fulfill His mission.

Family in Christ known as Zion, now is the time for us to collaborate in this mission, for each of us and all of us to discover, develop, and deploy the unique gifts God has granted us.  There is something for all of us to do.  There is a role for each of us to play in this unfolding divine drama and story.  This is a time for us to more faithfully steward the gifts of time, talent, and treasure entrusted to us so together we can strengthen and extend God’s Kingdom right here and now, going out into this abundant mission field surrounding us as compassionate and generous witnesses to the love and grace of God… in accord with His will and to His glory.
